Make anointing oil

Note: Anointing oil serves as a symbolic tool used by God, but it is not the Holy Spirit itself. If you believe that prayers and the act of casting out demons and unclean spirits will be ineffective without it, or if you treat the oil as if it holds the Holy Spirit within it, you risk turning the oil into an idol. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, elevating the oil to an idol status constitutes idolatry, which is considered a sin in the Bible.

Remember: When we are born again in Christ we are filled with the Holy Spirit. This is when the annointing is bestowed upon us. When we recieve the annointing we recieve authority over all evil, an annointing so powerful that we can move mountains because everything is possible through faith in Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ alone.

Where should I get the oil?

You can use olive oil you have available in your pantry, or purchase some from your local grocery store. If you plan to use some of the olive oil for cooking, set aside some oilve oil in a clean separate bottle specifically for annointing oil use. The annointing oil should not be used for cooking so it’s important to separate your annointing oil from olive oil you’ll use for cooking. You do not need to use your annointing oil every time you pray, just when you feel compelled or led to use the oil.

How to prepare olive oil

  1. Open the top of the olive oil and worship God.

    1. Listen to worship music and sing your heart out. Praise God and create an atmosphere that welcomes and invited God into the room.

  2. When you feel the Holy Spirit in the room you can say this prayer:

Holy Spirit I come to you in the name of Jesus. Holy Spirit, I recognize that all power and every anointing originate from You. I ask that You bless this anointing oil for my prayers over myself, my family, friends, my home, and others. I pray that it serves as a vessel of Your love and mercy towards us. I also see it as a symbol of Your protection over my family and home, representing the blood of Jesus that covers us. I understand that this oil is powerless until You rest upon it and make it Holy. Therefore, I ask You to dwell in it and sanctify it. I dedicate it solely for Your work, Lord. Thank You for blessing it and filling it with Your Spirit. Guide me whenever I am to use this oil. I pray that in the spiritual realm, it is recognized as a symbol of Your Presence.

    In Jesus' name I pray,

    Amen.

  3. Continue to praise the Lord and thank him for blessing the oil. Once God has blessed it, you have annointing oil! You do not need to say this prayer every time before using the annointing oil. Once the oil is blessed it stays blessed, unless it starts being used in an idolatrous way. Remember that it’s not the oil that is at work but the power of the Holy Spirit using the oil as a tool to aid you while using the annointing oil.

Key Scriptures

1 Samuel 16:1

16 The Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.”

Exodus 25:1-8

25 The Lord said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give. These are the offerings you are to receive from them: gold, silver and bronze; blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair; ram skins dyed red and another type of durable leather; acacia wood; olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; and onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece. “Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them.

Leviticus 8:30

30 Then Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood from the altar and sprinkled them on Aaron and his garments and on his sons and their garments. So he consecrated Aaron and his garments and his sons and their garments.

Isaiah 61:1-3

61 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.

Joel 1:10

10 The fields are ruined, the ground is dried up; the grain is destroyed, the new wine is dried up, the olive oil fails.

Mark 6:13

13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.

Matthew 17:20

20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
