Repentance Prayer
Repentance involves acknowledging your actions and mistakes as a form of confession, while deciding to distance yourself from those behaviors to mend your relationship with God. This process typically includes a heartfelt prayer to God, sincerely seeking forgiveness. Following a prayer of repentance, the individual should consciously make the choice to turn away from their sinful habits and conduct.
Jesus, I come before You and sincerely repent for my wrongdoings. I offer You my heart, which has been tainted by the evils of pride, envy, jealousy, sloth, gluttony, vanity, gossip, and lust. I confess and repent for [list all sins committed]. I genuinely regret my sins and turn away from them entirely. Please remove all ties, break every chain, and sever each and every connection that links me to these sins. Give me the strength to resist temptation. Cleanse my heart, mind, body, and soul with Your precious blood. Jesus, I ask that You fill my heart with profound faith, conviction, wisdom, and discernment. Each time I seek Your forgiveness, may You be there with Your loving hands to lift me up and guide me along the right path, enabling me to live as You wish for me to live. Thank You for Your boundless and everlasting love for me. From this moment onward, I fully surrender my life to You. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and empower me to walk in obedience and holiness. May the light of Christ radiate through me and overflow. Use me for Your Kingdom's purposes and for Your glory alone.
In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray,
Amen.
Key Scriptures
Ephesians 5:1-20
1 Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. 7 Therefore do not be partners with them.
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. 14 This is why it is said:
“Wake up, sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
James 4:7
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
John 10: 7-9
7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. 9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.
Psalm 121:7-8
The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Acts 2:38
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 3:19
19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
2 Corinthians 7:10
10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
1 John 19
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
